To cook them, soak the beans in water overnight or for at least 8 hours, then drain and rinse. Combine with fresh water or broth in a pot, using a 1:3 ratio of beans to liquid. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours until tender.
